Letter to Thomas Ap Catesby Jones, 1842 Nov. 25.

Written in response to Jones' request for information on California. Comments on political events under various Mexican governors, the arrival and imprisonment of a party of American hunters, the government's attempts to expel foreigners, the arrival on the first American emigrant party in 1841, topography of the country, description of route commonly traveled from California to Oregon.

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area.
